Nanolaser on Silicon surface

A group of Research Engineers at the University of California were able to grow InGaAs (Indium Gallium Arsenide) nano-lasers on a silicon surface. The main goal of this technology is to replace on-chip and chip-to-chip communication buses, as optical serial buses would be faster than the current complex cooper buses, as well as noise free, less vulnerable to interferences.

You can find more information on this new technology at EE Herald.
